What is Webster Technique In Palm Desert CA
At full term, about 97% of all babies are head down. Babies that have their buttocks or feet down are in the breech presentation. Some causes of breech presentation may include multiple pregnancies (twins), too much or too little amniotic fluid, an unusually shaped uterus, placenta position, short umbilical cord, or previous cesarean.
Sometimes the cause may be structural; the strong round ligaments pulling tightly on the uterus, decreasing the baby’s ability to move freely within the womb. The other side of those ligaments is attached to pelvic bones. As a chiropractor, we adjust those bones and loosen the tight ligaments in order to restore normalcy to the baby’s environment. One technique we use is The Webster Technique. It has given countless mothers the opportunity to have the safe, uncomplicated vaginal birth that they wanted.
The Goal Of The Adjustment
We do not attempt to manually turn the baby. That technique is called the External Cephalic Version or ECV, it is done by a medical doctor in the hospital as a last resort.
The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and corrective adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/joint dysfunction to restore proper function in the pelvis.
The process is very comfortable and very efficient. Most moms who come in for Webster analysis can be seen right away and will be in our office for less than 30 minutes on their initial visit and any necessary follow-up visits will be even quicker.
